Yoga ~ Meditation ~ Sound and Gong Healing

Dance ~ Breathwork ~ Qigong

Hello, I'm Carolyn. I'm an experienced Kundalini Yoga, hatha, gong and meditation teacher based in Glasgow. I lead regular classes and workshops (in person and online) suitable for all abilities – from complete beginners to more experienced yogis.

I first experienced the richness of Kundalini Yoga technology back in 2015. I welcomed and embraced the deeper connection to mind, body and spirit. It opens you to new sensations – more energy, positive thoughts, flexibility, strength and creative expression.

I’m fascinated by the healing qualities of the Naad (the essence of all sound). I draw on nature, music, mantra and the gong to explore how sound and vibration can help us elevate our spirit and enrich our lives.

I also practice Qigong, Feldenkrais movement and Contact Improvisation dance. These practices inspire my teachings and help inform new possibilities for ease of movement, creativity and play, to find freedom within.

You don’t have to find anything outside of you. The jewels are all in You.

I’ll equip you with practical tools and techniques of Kundalini Yoga, kriya and energy work, which you can use to de-stress, build strength, vitality and aid relaxation. Also, learn how to connect your breathing, mantra, movement and meditation to raise your potential.

I encourage safe practice. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Bring your own mat, bottle of water, a cushion/yoga block, light blanket if needed for comfort. All welcome. No previous experience necessary. My classes are not suitable during pregnancy.

Commotion to Devotion - Toning the Vagus

Mondays online and Thursdays in studio

Book now

In these sessions, we’ll focus on toning the vagus nerve, which is responsible for regulating our body’s relaxation response. We’ll explore the rhythmic flow of Kundalini Yoga and gentle Qigong exercises, breath, mantra, meditation, and self-massage to calm the mind and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This will help us relax and connect with our inner selves.

We’re all affected by the pressure of these times. As we move from commotion to devotion with awareness, we’ll let go of stress, tension, and anxiety, and tap into our deeper sense of peace, compassion and gratitude. Through this practice, we can experience benefits such as:

  • Improved mental clarity

  • Emotional stability

  • Improved immune system function

  • Lower inflammation in the body

  • Better digestion and gut health

  • Enhanced cardiovascular health

  • Increased feelings of happiness and connection

The vague nerve is a a long nerve that runs from the brainstem to the abdomen. It’s responsible for many important bodily functions, including controlling the heart rate, digestion and breathing. A healthy vagus nerve is essential to maintain overall wellbeing and reduce stress and anxiety.

Research on the vagus nerve has shown that it's involved in our feelings of compassion, empathy, and goodness. Research participants with higher vagal nerve activity expressed higher feelings of altruism, love, and happiness. This is because of the vagus nerve’s influence on communication, heart rate, and its ability to trigger the oxytocin release, a hormone responsible for feelings of bonding and connection. (DiSalvo 2009)

This unique nerve holds the key to our ability to be present, aware, and compassionate.
